XFree86

I have an ATI Rage Fury Pro 128 (32MB) in my AGP slot. This card was automaticallyauto-detected, and had DRI enabled. My Logitech wheel mouse (a standard PS/2mouse inserted in the auxiliary port) was also auto-detected.

My Wacom Graphire 2 tablet (USB) was NOT auto-detected. However, SaX2 has been muchimproved. The Wacom tablet was easily added to the input device list so thatboth tablet and mouse could be used as `pointer' devices. Unfortunately, the Wacom driver provided with XFree86 does not actually work very well. `Absolute' mode does not work properly. To fix this, wacom_drv.o (can be found by `locate wacom_drv.o') needs to be replaced. The replacements can be found at LinuxWacom. At the time of writing, the stable version is 0.4.1 and the beta version is 0.5.0. Other than copying wacom_drv.o to the appropriate location, XF86Config needs to be modified if you want `absolute' mode. Using JED (and when logged in as root), add the line

Option Mode absolute
beneath each of the three 'InputDevice' sections describing various Wacom input types.
